EDIT 1 *The same senior advisor game me a new ticket number and authorized a repair, I'm bringing the 3rd MacBook Pro in tomorrow... apparently I just have to drop it off, she's authorized a replacement. I'm also bringing along our 4th MacBook Pro which is exhibiting similar issues, and I'll keep you guys posted if they fix that one too. March 31 2015

I bought 4 MacBook Pros for my game company in 2013. They all started having issues with dead pixels, video distortion, and general wonkiness related to the displays.
In the summer of 2014, I paid for 2 of them to get fixed out of warranty - 2 logic boards and a retina screen, the total came to about $1800.
Yesterday I brought the third one in with similar issues as what the first 2 had ... terrible screen burn, random weird bars video distortion like TV static.
They ran a diagnostics test and told me that there was a MacBook Pro Repair Program for Video Cards... they told me that my macbook was in the serial number range of the affected MacBooks, but that my video card passed the test and if I wanted it to fix it, it would be out of pocket ... another $800 or so.
I later called Apple Support, and got connected to a Senior Advisor. She looked up the serial numbers of the 2 I had repaired in the summer, and refunded me for the Logic Board portion of those repairs.
She booked me another appointment with a 'Genius' and gave notes telling him to replace the logic board on the MacBook Pro that's showing image burn and video distortion.

I am happy that they refunded me $1000 of the $1800 I paid last summer, but I waste another drive into the Apple Store and another 4 hours of my day arguing with the 'Genius' after the macbook pro passed the test and he refused to replace it.
He is telling me that it falls within the range of the affected computers, and that the symptoms I'm describing are probably just related to the retina screen, so that is not covered by the repair program.
Is this guy full of shit? I'm having horizontal bars about 2 inches thick scroll across my screen that look like TV static at random times... how could this be the retina display screen?
He said the program goes until 2016, so if it gets worse, he can run the test again, but he can't replace the logic board until it gets so bad that it fails the video card test.
The worse thing is that this computer was a back up rig, an it only has 40 battery cycles.
I'm not sure if I should be pissed off at Apple for denying me the fix on this computer, or if I should be happy that they refunded me $1000 :)
